Time to PARTY!!!

Today is going to be dedicated to partying with family.  Gabriel is finally having his Pump It Up party.  He turned 6 on July 23rd, but there have just been too many things going on to make sure that Daddy could be there.  Papa is out of town and Aunt Sassy will still be at work but is hoping to make at least part of it.

My morning will be spent having fun creating an "appropriate" soldier cake for young children.  This was a little bit of a challenge since burying dinosaurs in the cake was fun, but what to bury in the middle of a battle field?  I was never serious about dead bodies or skeleton, just in case anyone thought I could have been seriously considering it.   I mean come on, give me a little credit.  I have thought of a fun way to make the water in the lake!  Hope it works!

All this will be a reward for me as soon as I come in from spraying weeds.  Hope it rains soon or I'll have to water the pre-emerge into the ground . . . . . story of my life isn't it?  Doing everything backwards  :-D

Forgot The Stinkin' Ice Cream

Once again, I have proven where the ADD came from if our kids had been diagnosed with it.  Got through all-l-l-l-l-l of those green chiles.  I was dragging so badly, just couldn't understand why until I looked at the clock and had a lunch of rellenos at 2:30.  Made them out of powdered eggs, I know, "huh?".  But they tasted better than they smelled.  Actually not too bad.  I just got some to work with for the first time in years. I keep getting questions that can't be answered by yours truly because I like using just plain egg whites.

Then it was time to start mending.  Or maybe iron the red organza runners that I have from a wedding.

Or I clean out the cupboard just right of the kitchen stove.

Next was cleaning out a drawer, dump the stuff from the junk drawer into that drawer.

Then it was sorting through all the run-a-way pens, pencils and other stuff into the little bin on the fridge.
Extras went into the new, larger junk drawer, but just for now  ;+ D

Next I moved the aprons, tea towels and clean-up towels into a deep drawer that Jacqueline left empty the other day, with the direction to, "Not put anything in that drawer before she came back!"  Sorry Jacqueline, it's perfect, thanks!  Oh and yeah, the storage bags are back in the kitchen!

Then I put all the chiles into the freezer, just do not want to peel all those little beggars today!  Dragged Sarah and Lincoln to the store before a sale that ran out at midnight.  Haven't had any ground beef for several months.  Made tacos, ate tacos, took some dumb pictures, took pills so I would have an excuse to eat tacos, again.

Now I am elevating my fat little foot so I just can't run a sewing machine, right?  That is my pedal foot after all.  I know lame, but I really detest mending.  Probably because I have so many jeans to do and BLAH!  I keep telling myself to be grateful that I have jeans to mend . . . . . then I remember, "They all belong to Jon".  I really want to lose that last 30 lbs. so I can adopt them to wear around the house, or knowing me, all over town.  Cut them off for capri pants, fill the deep pockets, free . . . . so nice.
I guess this amounts to I didn't earn any ice cream.  Sigh . . . .  que sera sera . . . .

Now as I think about all this, something seems so familiar . .  hummmm.  Oh, I know what why.  I seem to remember for years, no matter what I asked/told the kids to do, I would come home and absolutely anything and everything was done except what they had been assigned.  so the fact that my mending is still sitting over there, and there and over there too, must be their fault, I caught it from them!

It is actually the next morning now and since breakfast is done, it is time to spray weeds then clean up for a dental appointment . . . . aha!  Saved again!

TODAY I AM . . . . .

Roasting green chilies, and roasting, and roasting, bake first cake for the soldier cake . . .  and roasting.  Oops! got some cinders . . . and roasting . . . thinking about bringing out the "big gun"

Note to self:   If you have to think that long and hard about whether or not to order a big ole bag of green chilies, you will regret it. At least while you're roasting them, in the BBQ grill, out in the heat.

Also, pay attention and don't order the tortillas, or you will end up paying $$ instead.

And roasting some more . . .  sure glad that I can do it outside on the grill.  I used to do it in the kitchen for days on end and talk about a sinus attack!

I am forcing myself to take on all the crummy, horrible, boring jobs that I do NOT want to do.  I should be left with a wonderful feeling of accomplishment at the end of day.  If I am not, I will go and buy a carton of Rocky Road Ice Cream (not just any ice cream) and eat myself into oblivion.  I won't care how much it costs, I won't care if it makes me sick, which it probably will, and I won't care how much it costs.  Well, as long as it doesn't take all of my gas money, won't let myself use any bill paying money.

                                    I will also eat it before it looks like this   . . . . . .

Then I will probably make some absolutely indescribable Chile Rellenos that look like this.  None of that thick dough deep fried stuff like you get in a restaurant!  With just the right amount of Frank's Hot Sauce drizzled over the top and a wonderful crisp, crunchy salad on the side.

So I am down to just one more batch of the peppers to roast, after the batch that is on roasting right now.  So best get busy, shake a leg, put the nose to the grind stone and the shoulder to the wheel.. OK, OK, no more nonsense, I'm going!!   Sheee!

Today's Laugh

I was snooping on face book to see if there was an update about my SIL who is still in ICU and saw the pictures that Sarah put on hers with captions.

This one was, "Time to put on your man suit and zip it up".  Though it actually stolen from the young man she is talking to here, I love it and totally plan to use it when appropriate!  Thanks Tim !

Low Glycemic Diet

They were just talking about this wonderful eating plan on the news.  What it seems to boil down to is nothing white.  So if you can't live without these:

Or these:

Just get a set of these.  Remember, eat nothing white!

Guess I need to start making caramel corn out of all the popcorn I treat myself with  . . sigh . . . .

The Stain Has Met It's Demise!

OK just the cause has, but that's good mind you, good!  Jon and I found this nifty little T called a shark and it looks like it will do the job.

Poor Jon, I got him up this morning, bright and early to go up in the attic.  I just don't want to deal with something that isn't right.  When the sky light was put into that room the workers just stuck it in and didn't consider where wiring or plumbing in.  the strain on the pipes had cause a strain and then crack in the pipe.

Wish us luck, Jon will hit the road tomorrow and I'll be here to deal!!

Now to go spread pre-emerge just in case it rains again!!

Party Time!!

Couple of months ago, I asked Mariah to find out what kind of cake Gabriel wanted for his birthday. . . . Soldier cake.  Hmmm, does that mean a cake that looks like a soldier, or a cake that is a battle ground, or just what?

Ends up it is  a cake with a hill with grass, pond and of course the blue sky.  Not a flat cake with all of this depicted on it, a blue sky above it, that's realistic (Who the heqq taught him that anyway, I would like to have a talk with them).  When I checked on it a couple of days ago, he very nicely and patiently described it to me, again.  He forgets how often that little mind of his changes, sometimes.  I told him it would be doable except for that sky and he took that pretty well.

Of course he took it so well and maturely that it got my pea brain going . . . . Hmmm, can you tell this has become a challenge for me?  Now that I have my creative juices turn back on again, well some of the time, it has been fun to pull off what the kiddies want.  If Jon is home, he seems to enjoy helping me come up with ideas . . . especially when it will pull the big kids' chains . . . AKA . . .  their legs.  Watching Mariah trying to cut the construction cake with dinosaurs buried all over it put a big ole smile on his face!  I have thought of a way to make a sky with clouds even . . . how to have stuff flying, that would be way fun, dontcha think? it?

Here are some ideas I found on the internet:

1.  Cute but don't want to buy or store shape pans.  2.  Cute but too predictable  3.  Little dudes too big and not enough.

Then there are these:

1.  Nothing to play with afterwards, HELLO!  2.  Kind of cramped.   3.  Wouldn't he just die if I did this?  Poor kid would probably try to act happy, but definitely not what he has in mind and he is too little to pick on.  I'll wait until he deserves it.

So what do you think?   I know, just make sure it's edible . ..  I have that down now, I think.  I must like the beating motion, I over beat cakes, so I set timers now, it's a big ole help.

What surprise can we come up with this time?  Dead bodies or skeletons buried between the layers?  Hmmmm  . ..    Maybe I'll stick to flying stuff, if I can find some that it small and light enough!
