Huish Power Company

He's working right a long getting the power back up and running so I knew I had to get this while I could.

Do you ever wonder why Jon puts up with all my teasing? Just between you & me, I think he loves the attention. Who else gets to star in my show?

The gray pipe is holding the permanent power. Jon is putting the outlets where I need them and even put a covered GFI on the outside, such a sweetie. He is getting more in each weekend so that I can add more to the peg board to hang/organize more tools.

I can't begin to tell you how good it feels to get this done. It is already making it easier to find what I need for projects and making it move along faster.HAPPY DANCE!!! . . . now if a certain sweet someone would just get more of her stuff out of there . . . ah hem . . .  (Bad Mom) . .  but I do need the middle of the shed to finish the projects without getting dust in it . . or me having to breath the fumes of one of them.

Am I Old Enough?

I have kind of enjoyed puttering with this tonight..  I asked Jon if he thought I was nuts, he said maybe.  Hahahaha, it keeps me out of the bars I suppose . . or at least it would if I went to bars.

Wouldn't it be great if I could build this trellis tomorrow ..  we will see, we will see . . .

Doing, Just To Re-Do, The Story Of My Life

This is the antique window that I bought a while back. Glazing the glass panes went so badly that I just clear caulked it all in and painted over the "inside" which had been stained a dark brown. Jon was surprised since I had wanted it to show it's age . . . . .

First, it is important to gather all of your supplies . . . . .

. . . including the snacks and a good movie.

So now I am sanding it off, more or less to restore an antique look. The picture shows me I have a long ways to go before it looks just right again. I am also losing the dark stain, so I will find my self re-staining the bare spots with a q-tip before I varnish the whole thing.

I really hope this turns out the way I want it to >:- ?

The redwood is all ready and waiting.  The gardening has been so discouraging that I am ready to stamp more projects "FINISHED" !  and feel successful again.

I was advised to flush my gardens since the soil was so rich and that is what is going on out there, while I shade the few surviving plants.

The Green Thing

In the line at the store, the cashier told the older woman that she should bring her own grocery bag because plastic bags weren't good for the environment.

The woman apologized to him and explained, "We didn't have the green thing back in my day."

The clerk responded, "That's our problem today, the former generation did
n't care enough to save our environment."

He was right, that generation didn't have the green thing in its day.
  • Back then, they returned  their milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled.
They didn't have the green thing back in that customer's day.
  • In her day, they walked up stairs, because they didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. They walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time they had to go two blocks.
But she was right. They didn't have the green thing in her day.
  • Back then, they washed the baby's diapers because they didn't have the throw-away kind. They dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling machine burning up 220 volts - wind and solar power really did dry the clothes. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing.
But that old lady is right, they didn't have the green thing back in her day.
  • Back then, they had one TV, or radio, in the house - not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief, not a screen the size of the state of Montana. In the kitchen, they blended and stirred by hand because they didn't have  When electric machines to do everything for you.  When they packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, they used a wadded up old newspaper to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap.
  • Back then, they didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. They used a push mower that ran on human power. They  exercised by working so they didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity. And their kids weren't obese!
But she's right, they didn't have the green thing back then.
  • They drank from a fountain when they were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time they had a drink of water.
  • They refilled their writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and they replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull.
But they didn't have the green thing back then.
  • Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or rode the school bus instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service. They had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And they didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest pizza joint.
But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful the old folks were just because they didn't have the green thing back then?

Sniff, Sniff . . . Wa-a-a-a-a-a-a-h!

Good Grief - - -
Did someone leave the Gates of He _ _ open?  That has to  be the only explanation for what is going on out there.  What little was left of my poor pathetic garden has sat there and absolutely fried.

I hope the shade cloth I got today will help block the hot wind and the sun . .  and then maybe, just maybe I will persevere.  I didn't expect great things in a new growing beds, but good grief . .  this is ridiculous!

Time to Get the Heat OUT of the Kitchen

It is that time of year again, I am NOT going to do much cooking in my kitchen.  It is in the exact middle of my house and even with the new stove hood, which vents the heat out, I don't want to do much cooking in there.

Today, the family is gathering for an early Memorial Week End BBQ.  We will of course have the standards, hot dogs and hamburgers, but I have secret surprise cooking for them.  BBQ Pork Spare Ribs ala Wonder Box.  I am about to put them on (9:30 am) and they should be absolutely falling off the bones by dinner time.  All I will have to run the stove is about 20-25 minutes and the rest will be done out on the patio, just o get the box out of the way.  Think of all the energy I will be saving.  Time will be saved to since I won't have to check them once they ore cooking.

I already have baked beans in one crock pot and the funereal potatoes will be going into another one as soon as the ribs are tucked into the Wonder Box.  The men can be manly and "man" the grill . . . not for me thank you very much!!

UPDATE:  As usual, I checked the temperature of the meat as soon as I opened the pot and bag.  They were still at 157 degrees, great !

The ribs turned out wonderful, in most respects, juicy and tender.  There was a little hole in the bottom of the bag, so some of the BBQ sauce leaked out and some of the water leaked in.

Lesson learned:  Check for leaks in the baking bag!

Now For The Building!

I have finished staining the redwood, again.  It was just too orange and not a rich enough color so I got out the stain and did it all over again.  In a way it was good.  It gave me time to draw out the plans, again, and I realized that I needed two more long pieces and that I wouldn't like the redwood attached directly to the antique window.

So I adjusted, the window will "be suspended" in the middle of the trellis, Jon thinks the new idea will still be structurally sound, and I have the parts.  Should I warn him that he, of course, will get snookered into helping with this little project when I can't drill, measure or screw anything straight?  Naw !  Will he be surprised ?  Naw!

To make it up to him, I guess I should get the pegboard up in the shed . .  for which I also have all the parts.  I will get right to that as soon as Gabriel and I get finished watching George of the Jungle . . . while his bird feeder dries, next to Garrett's bird feeder, which is already dry and waiting for it's coat of varnish.  Why did I start let them this week . . . oh yeah, Garrett saw them and got so excited.  He didn't whine to make his, so I rewarded him.  Only three more to go!!

Mission Accomplished. . . . .

It's 5:00 am.

I have been kicked, pummeled, poked, jabbed for hours.  I am groggy, tired, sleep deprived and can hardly breath.  Missed the achy thing though.  I have discovered that my shoulder is a much better pillow than the nice, big, soft king sized thing in there.   But don't you just love it when a plan comes together . . . .

Letting grandkids sleep in your bed is a death wish.  I need to get those camping beds out again, don't I?

Another Un-Wasted Day

I picked Garrett up before 10:00 am today.

  • Didn't get anything done on the front trellis.
  • Didn't get the kitchen cleaned.
  • Didn't get the wedding stuff up in the attic.
  • Didn't get any of the drip system in the back garden.
  • Didn't get any part of the peg board up in the shed.
  • Didn't get the second coat on the redwood (drat, it's too orange)
Didn't get one thing on my list done.  Now I am about to go climb into bed and be kicked, pummeled, jabbed and poked all night.  In the morning I will get up groggy, sore, achy, and sleep deprived.

Thanks Garrett, you have given one happy Nanny a very delightful unproductive day in which not one minute was wasted.

Sweet dreams little guy.

QUESTION:

  • What is "Home" ?
  • Please respond.
  • I am looking for some help to bring thoughts in my head together.

The Last Farewell Concert

Brianna has finished her last year of teaching.  She turned in her resignation just before the play and told the kids before they had a chance to hear the news through the grape vine. Though it was not as emotional as the last concert at Sabino High was, it was still pretty teary from time to time.  I am so glad that these youth appreciate her and the talents she has developed in her self and in them.

I will just load a bunch of pictures and put captions on them.  It should be a little easier that way.

Or maybe not the captions,  Brianna does most of her directing from right here.  No doubt there is a lot of practicing and communication.  I don't remember hearing anything miss a beat.

This girls' group always seems to have a little surprise for us.  In this song, they start out all prim an proper and then they start to get a little silly and it is always fun.  Great group!  They were pretty teary as they left the stage.

These are the most advanced kids.  During one of the songs they surprised Brianna with everyone motioning to her when they were singing something mentioning everything we learned from you, or something like that.  I know, rambling here, but they all motioned towards Brianna and caught her by surprise.  It was sweet.  She could tell us the exact line.

And then there was a "Grease" Attack.   One of the girls did the choreography . . . it was great and the kids had so much fun.  Isn't it funny what we all accidentally admit to dream about?  Everyone seems to have little  a "Grease"  wanna be in us.  Being at a private school that is sponsored by a church would probably make it even more appealing to these kids .

Several kids played the guitar.  They all came together in this number, it was very relaxing and pleasant to listen to.  Brianna does a great job of letting the program build and then scale it back a bit, but not for too long.  Great skill for the performers and the audience.

I have so many pictures that I could share.  Good ole' digital cameras.  But this one seems to sum it up pretty well.  Every group had a thank you gift for Mrs. Huish. . .  the lady that they pictured as a big old mean lady, when they saw the name but had not met her yet.  Old story, but still funny if you ask me.  I have wondered if she was quick enough to tell them, "No that would be my MIL."   After the way that she was totally ignored at the end of the play this year and all of her work ignored, I was glad that the ones who counted stepped up and let her know how much she was loved and appreciated for all that she sees in the youth of today.  For all that she does to help them see that potential and enrich their own lives with that knowledge and understanding of just who they are.

Thanks kids for being who you are, for appreciating someone who has worked so hard in your behalf.  Thanks Brianna for sharing this part of your life with us and enriching our life experience through these programs!  We love you!

I love progress!

A Sad Reminder . .

My niece just posted that today was their 8th anniversary.  I was pretty surprised.  It also reminded me that 8 years ago, we buried our little rat terror (terrier) .  We had gone up for the wedding and he got out of the Maskey's fence for the second time.  Stephen found him in our yard and asked me what I wanted him to do.  I had him take him back over to their place so he wouldn't be alone.  So dumb of me.  If Pokey was that determined to go home, I should have known he would manage to escape again.  That time he got hit.

I still miss the little guy.  He was so fun, as most rat terriers are.  Of course, he would be at least 14 years old now and if he were still alive, he would probably be as lively as the current two critters are . . . the ones that are sound asleep next to me right now.  Big morning outside since about 6:00 . . . poor little girls, all tuckered out from protecting us from the attack rabbit and lizards.

Time to go stain and seal more of that old trellis.  Boy, what a drag and mess.

Invasion of the Girls . . . . What a Switch!

Arianna assigned herself to be photographer while I was helping Tati climb the ladder to see the new baby doves, our first for this season.  Our patio nest dove has just laid duds so far.  Poor little thing, all that sitting all for naught

How do such ragged little messes turn into such lovely gray doves with such soft little calls every morning?  Beats me!

Next of course is the "gathering of the pine cones".  Watching all of the grand kids, you would think they were gold plated.  Arianna gathered 15 pretty ones, last count.  I have of something wonderful they can do with all of the cones.  With 11 pine trees (Huish Family Forest), we have a LOT of them!

Next it was off to watch Garrett play soccer.  That little guy can sure cover a lot of ground with those little legs of his.  He doesn't usually seem real sure why, but he covers it by golly!

Arianna decided that sun screen was not enough protection from the sun.  She latched on to this old straw hat.  It was the last one my dad had before he died.  Bob (oldest brother) sent it home with Jon one time.  He figured I would "like to have it in my family room".  Hmmm, really didn't want it there, and yet I haven't gotten rid of it., but what to do, what to do.  Arianna  showed me.  She got lots of smiles, I got a few questioning looks and we got smiles when one of us explained it's significance.  I think its's darling and love that she is not so hung up on  "looks" and can express herself.  That comes too soon

Garrett got to rest and sit out for a time.  He had a great coach who rotated the kids in and out of the game.  I appreciate those kind of coaches.

Lincoln's fate for lots of practices and games.  He was in total tears right after this picture was taken and managed to escape the dreaded stroller.

And of course there was the other little prisoner . . . . she didn't last long either, especially with so many of her adoring fans surrounding her !

The dad types got comfortable, as long as they could  manage . . . . chuckle . . .

So did the Nanny type.  Once again, I am glad for my nice big lap, sure glad it came in handy for something after all.  There was the slightest little breeze that kept it from getting too hot with all the little bodies on and around me.  Sigh . . .

In case there is any question, Daddy/Uncle Stephen has way more cool phone than Nanny!  Sometime I am just a little tempted, but no where enough to spend the $$ on something that would no doubt confuse me to no end!

This would be Garrett's coach and her some Scott., who definitely knows his way around a soccer field.  Cute little guy.  I hear that after just a few minutes on the field at the first practice, they were already fast friends.  Garrett is so excited about Scott's upcoming birthday party.  When I asked Garrett if his coach was pretty (suspected from the way his face lit up every time he mentioned her) he looked kind of funny and then broke out in the biggest smile as he shook his head.  Made him feel shy, so cute!

As soon as Garrett's game was over, it was off to Gabriel's basket ball game.  Garrett had gotten lots of treats after is game and was so sweet to share plenty with Arianna and Tati.  I was pretty proud of him.  they didn't seem to mind that he had been wallowing the fruit roll-up all over his face before the last part was distributed.  Yeck!!

These little kids can really cover a basket ball court! Back and forth, back and forth.  It started  to remind me of a littler of baby pigs that ran all over in a pack.  The kids were of course cuter . . .  I think . .  those baby pigs were awfully cute!

When the coach called them together to talk to them, Gabriel tried so hard to cue in . . . it  just doesn't last very long, even after all that running to burn energy.

After all the running around, we went home and made Mexican Pizzas.  Papa was passed out cold in the Monkey  Room before they were made, so we girls had a nice lunch and then laid down for our naps.  I read the first book since it had a bunch of weird names in it.  Arianna read the next two and then everyone was ready to sleep.  I've said it so many times, is there any thing as sweet as sleeping kids?  I had Tati snuggled up to me while I was laying there and Arianna was snuggle up to her.  Gives a Granny Nanny sweet dreams!!

Since it is Sunday, I am going to take another nap.  Zounds . . . two days in a row!  How did I luck out?  Then I will post about Brianna's "Farewell  Concert".

The Party's Over . . . . . . . At Least For The Moment

The Elders are fed and Mariah just took her little brood home.  The house is so quiet :+ D . . . well except the snoring in my ear . . . music to my ears . . . . . it means he is home.

I've had a busy three days spending time with the boys.  In some ways not much seems to happen other than a fair amount of destruction but it is good time well spent.

Today Gabriel watered out front while I "assembled" a new toy, a two wheeled barrow.  I have some very well hydrated rocks in my front yard!  I finally decided it was time to have him water my garden tires in the back yard.

What has happened to me?  This kit was the dream set up.  All of the parts were stuck to cardboard under some shrink wrap.  Labeled in a way there was no question or loss.  The diagrams (pictures) were clear and easy to "read".  Three hours later I realized that I was going to have to almost start over.  Grrrrrr.  So I just got mad and went to dig in my garden.  That makes everything better.

Gabriel was a good help by watering all the replacement plants as I did most of the digging, tilling, fertilizing and mixing peat moss in.  I've said it before and I 'll say it many times again, water is the best babysitter in the world.  They may make a mess, but you can just follow the hose and find the little characters!

Next on his agenda was rebuilding the bird perch I took down after Jon & I had strangled ourselves on it one time too many.  He is so proud of his projects.  This one will be easier to get past to get on out to the yard, but it is also strung out all over the place, so it will be a tripping hazard  . . so we will see how long it lasts.

When it was just hot to stay out any longer, it was to escape the heat and come indoors. Time to redraw the battle lines and regroup.

Lots to do here as well as I go through, measure, sort and reorganize the wedding stuff.  No canopy parts or pieces will survive the process!!!

On a little different note:  "Kitty", my cat's claw vine seems to like were she is sitting in a pot.  Unfortunately, I have to move her as soon as I get the shed painted so that she can grow on the west side and shade it.  No it isn't painted yet . . . . and the garden isn't finished YET.  Everything seems to be work in progress around here.  So plug away as usual and some day maybe, just maybe, something will accidentally get finished!

A CALIFORNIA PRINCIPAL'S OPENING MESSAGE TO STUDENTS

I don't know if this really happened, I hope so, and I wish it would be taught in our area, meaning the United States of America.   . . . . . . .OK, I snoped this.  Dennis Prager put this on his show in July 2010 of what he would say as a commencement speech of something like that.  I would still love it if my grandchildren could attend a school with this philosophy.  Especially the ones who are of "Hispanic decent", genetically speaking.  their Daddy did just fine on his own and so should they.  He wouldn't be the man he is today, if he had not felt he could earn his own way on his own merits.

From: Dennis Prager, principal at a high school in Redding, California, on the first day of classes in 2010:

To the students and faculty of our high school: I am your new principal, and honored to be so. There is no greater calling than to teach young people.
I would like to apprise you of some important changes coming to our school. I am making these changes because I am convinced that most of the ideas that have dominated public education in America have worked against you, against your teachers, against your parents and against our country.

Therefore: First, this school will no longer honor race or ethnicity. I could not care less if your racial makeup is black, brown, red, yellow, or white. I could not care less if your origins are African, Latin American, Asian, or European, or if your ancestors arrived here on the Mayflower or on slave ships. The only identity I care about, the only one this school will recognize, is your individual identity -- your character, your scholarship, your humanity. And the only national identity this school will care about is American. This is an American public school, and American public schools were created to make better Americans.

If you wish to affirm an ethnic, racial, or religious identity through your school, you will have to go elsewhere. We will end all ethnicity-, race- and non-American-nationality-based celebrations. They undermine the motto of America , one of its three central values -- E Pluribus Unum -- "from many, one."

And this school will be guided by America 's values. That includes all after-school clubs. I will not authorize clubs that divide students based on any identities. This includes race, language, religion, sexual orientation, or whatever else may become in vogue in a society divided by political correctness. Your clubs will be based on interests and passions -- not blood, ethnic, racial or other physically defined ties. Those clubs just cultivate narcissism -- an unhealthy preoccupation with the self -- while the purpose of education is to get you to think beyond yourself. So, we will have clubs that transport you to the wonders and glories of art, music, astronomy, languages you do not already speak, math, carpentry, and more. If the only extracurricular activities you can imagine being interested in are those based on ethnic or racial or sexual identity, that means that little outside of yourself really interests you.

Second, I am not interested in whether or not English is your native language. My only interest in terms of language is that you leave this school speaking and writing English as fluently as possible. The English language has united America 's citizens for more than 200 years, and it will unite us at this school. It is one of the indispensable reasons this country of immigrants has always come to be one country. And if you leave this school without excellent English-language skills, I will have been remiss in my duty to ensure that you are prepared to compete successfully in the American job market. We will learn? other languages here -- it is deplorable that most Americans only speak English . But if you want classes taught in your native language rather than in English, this is not your school.

Third, because I regard learning as a sacred endeavor, everything in this school will reflect learning's elevated status. This means, among other things, that you and your teachers will dress accordingly. Many people in our society dress more formally for a meal at a nice restaurant than they do for church or school. Those people have their priorities backwards. Therefore, there will be a formal dress code at this school.

Fourth, no obscene language will be tolerated anywhere on this school's property -- whether in class, in the hallways or at athletic events. If you can't speak without using the "F-word," you can't speak. By obscene language I mean the words banned by the Federal Communications Commission plus epithets such as the "N-word," even when used by one black student to address another, or "bitch," even when addressed by a girl to a girlfriend. It is my intent that by the time you leave this school, you will be among the few of your age to distinguish instinctively between the elevated and the degraded, the holy and the obscene.

Fifth, we will end all self-esteem programs. In this school, self-esteem will be attained in only one way -- the way people attained it until the state of California decided otherwise a generation ago -- by earning it. One immediate consequence of this is that there will be only one class valedictorian, not eight.

Sixth, and last, I am reorienting the school toward academics and away from politics and propaganda. No more time will be devoted to scaring you about smoking and caffeine, or terrifying you about sexual harassment or global warming. No more semesters will be devoted to condom-wearing and teaching you to regard sexual relations as only or primarily a health issue. There will be no more attempts to convince you that you are a victim because you are not white, or not male, or not heterosexual, or not Christian. We will have failed, if any one of you graduates from this school and does not consider himself or herself inordinately lucky -- to be alive and to be an American.

Now, please stand and join me in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America . As many of you do not know the words, your teachers will hand them out to you.

I graduated from Maryvale High School which is located in Phoenix Az. in 1968.  I was never prejudiced until my senior year. A girl who was a member of a "minority" kept throwing the college  grants and help she was getting, just because of her birth, in my face.  Her parents were both more educated and financially better off than mine.

Thanks federal gov't and all of you dopes who have created a couple of generations of citizens who feel that they are entitled, just because of their birth.   It really helped, didn't it?

24 "Wasted" Hours . . .

It all began with a beautiful morning with Garrett's help in the garden.  I got a
surprising amount of work done in my tire garden in spi . . .  I mean with the little guy's help.  He got to stay here for lunch and naps then went home for a few hours.  I got to enjoy eliminating my "gardener's manicure" .  I seem to look like this most of the time these days.

When I picked Garrett up for his overnighter last night, he came up with a seed from their yard . . . . . that of course needed to be planted in a pot.  When I came up with a plain old boring white pot, he seemed disappointed . .  so I offered to find some ribbon to weave through the holes.  He got excited and asked for "PINK".  There was lots of the sparkle tulle laying around for some reason, he loved it . . and really loved the roses made out it . . . so we put our heads together and came up with this!

I felt like I should "accomplish something" even with a little helper around so I decided to wash my Wonder Box (thermal cooker) to clean it up after a few slops and spills.  This is what happened with that idea.  The styrofoam beads either swelled in the water or just stuck together, the two pieces were tangled and the washer was jammed.  It was the hot rubber/electrical smell is what made me go and check out what the squealing sound was.

Next was putting us both to bed with three books to be read and Garrett was off to dreamland, side ways in the bed, over and over.

For three hours this morning, it was . . . I 'm not sure what, but we did get our run to Home Depot and Costco to fill in our time until pre-school started.  Then off to Sam's Club for me.  I got back just in time to pick Garrett up and take him to Lowe's and the credit union.  Lunch was a shared piece of pizza and then home with him.

I took a couple of hours to take a nap and run the dish washer and then picked up Gabriel. Gourmet was the key word for dinner.  The ants were red ones and the burger was on thin bread.  That made it "gourmet".

While dinner was cooking in the kitchen, Battle Strategies were brewing in the family room with Uncle Rob's help via texting.

Currently we are watching The Absent Minded Professor, the 1961 version.

If I am lucky, I will be able to "get a little done" in the garden in the morning.  If I am even luckier, I will just make more of the simple little memories with my sweet grand kids to hold and cherish in my heart.  How did I get so lucky to have such great kids to "waste" time with?

Good Morning Just Gets Better!

I went by and picked up my favorite little five year old helper this morning.  He helped me pick out the best peat moss for my gardens and a few other essentials then we headed home.  Perhaps I am more excited to see my "wheels of fire" flowers finally blooming, but come on, let's face it . . . they sure are a gorgeous contrast to the petunias.  I wanted to take Garrett's picture with them, he assured me that his birthday party invitation would go beautifully as part of the arrangement, so we added it.  That funny little guy can come up with more funny little faces.

Next we went out to the garden to add the moss and mix it in.  What would we do without water on demand?  I gave him the cooler drain hose and let him water everything.  Made my work much easier  ;- }

He was pretty disappointed when I had him help remove suckers from the citrus trees by hand and not with the saw, but went along with it anyway.  Since he was such a good sport, he got to "climb" the lemon tree.  Hey gotta take what you can for boy stuff!

After we had our hot dog lunch, it was nap time and he was so good about it.  such a little snuggler, he makes it hard to get through his three books without dozing off!

The wonder box cooking class at Relief Society went well.  they had a great pot luck dinner first so I have TONS of food left over after the "tasting".  Guess I best get o packing and freezing it in one meal portions . .  Nanny's not going to cook this week!!!  No surprise that I made foods that I like, is it?

Now I can relax and enjoy a little more leisurely pace.  It will be nice.  Just hope I can get back to sleeping better at night.

Good Morning World!!

It's a good morning when:
You have a good ole sneeze fest to clear all the cob webs.
You hurt less than you did the morning before.
You wake up and know why your tires are not draining (gardens).
You figure out how to rob Peter to pay Paul so you can fix your tires . . . shhh, don't tell Jon ;-D .
You have a fresh hot bowl of beans from your Wonder Box for breakfast . . . .

AND YOU LOST ANOTHER POUND!!!!!!! Only 7 more to get back to my pre-Lynneah weight!!!  Who knew grandkids would put weight on you?  Soon I can get back to work on that last 30, ten at a time to reach my long time goal. I'm going to finishing loosing the lard if it kills me!!!  I need to post my goals and why, somewhere to remind myself.

When Living in the Desert . . . Dig!!!

I headed straight over to the church on Saturday and forgot to water my tire gardens.  OOPS!  Yesterday morning I discovered several plants who had met their maker.  When I dug down to plant one that was still in the pot, I saw that I had not been watering deep enough.

I am surprised that any are still alive.  So I am digging off the patio, putting stuff away in the new, old shed and gardening bench. . . . . I love to say that .  I have wanted one for years!  It is in the shade (the "yurt" that Jon put the tin roof on).  Being on the far end, it will be out of the way of the BBQ, my outdoor kitchen (unless I keep it on the patio to be closer to the indoor kitchen) and table and chairs.

I am so excited to be back to my business, lots to do and lots to enjoy (by finishing).  Lots to get ready to can, such an optimist, lots to finish, finish, finish.
