Sharron . . . 1 -- Jon . . . 1

Monday is Garrett's birthday.  Not a good day for everyone to get together, so the party is today.  I don't know why I do this, but I offered to make the Micky Mouse cake.   That isn't such a big deal, but I am the WORST cake baker.  Am now, was then (my whole life, always will be).

Survived that and then I went on the internet to get a pattern for Mickey's head . . . printer wouldn't work.

Jon gets home and tries to figure out why it wouldn't print so that I could something to fold and get some reference points on this big ole cake.  I come into the family room and find this.   Poor guy is exhausted and I take one picture with the cell phone, just in case, then climb over him and dig out the camera, to get some shots that I can blackmail with.  This is a classic, even for him.  I keep wondering how he can fall asleep all around the house, he knows I'll snap it!

Finally got Mickey printed, made my own black shoelace licorice to make
the lines, and started flinging frosting.  Every time I do this, I am so glad that the kids are very young, but what do
I do when they get old enough to realize that Nanny does everything in "shabby chic"?

When Jon walked in and found me taking this picture to send to Mariah over the cell phone, he laughed and hit me with, "If you walk in and your wife is standing on a chair, she just might be blogger!"  I told him what I was doing and he said, "Oh" , then he caught me with the camera (:-o

The cake was very cute! And the picture of Jon is a great addition to the whole event. :)

I am a disaster at making cakes! Yours looks like what I dream of making. :0)

I have given up on making "cute" cakes for the kids and have started letting them make their own cakes. Talon was so dang proud of his that it didn't matter what it looked like.
