So I got a fair amount of sewing done until it was time to go to bed. I woke up repeatedly last night hearing the rain falling, falling and falling. It sounded wonderful except . . . I needed to use the saw for cutting flooring . . the saw that is outside . . . in the rain and mud. DRAT! I finally got brave and tried a couple of cuts on Stephen's chop saw. They came out pretty well, considering that I had to turn the planks and finish the cut from the other direction. Now I am flooring Sassy's old bedroom, soon to be "guest room". The grand kids will be happy about it. No one will take over "their" monkey now. Oh and there will be another big bed that Nanny "won't" let them jump on . . even if she has to lock them out to enforce the rule. Man is she getting ornery!
Of course I got to thinking, I think I would rather:
| Digging throw this pile . . . . |
| Than digging through this pile, and digging . . . |
| Using these materials . . . . . |
| Instead of these materials . . . |
| instead of this . . no it isn't really mine , , , |
| Making things lay flat with this . . .. . |
. . . . is way more fun than making stuff stick
together with this. |
| Putting things together with this little gem . . .. . . |
| instead of this noisy thing . . . |
| Subdivide with these . . . . . . . |
| and of course sitting on this . . . . |
| instead of kneeling on these hot sweaty old things. |
But our prophet did counsel us to be grateful and in this small way I can be.
I do have a floor that needs to be covered, I do have knees that will hold me while I pound away with my hammer, and when I get that floor done, I will get to play some more making some fun things for my favorite little beings, my grand kids. Yeah there is lots more going on than that one little bag . . . . so though I would really prefer to do the fun stuff, I am grateful that I am healthy enough to get the drudgery done and the fun stuff will wait for me.
I am WAY grateful for all the help that Jon gave me this weekend or I would be no where near getting these projects done! He was pretty patient with me and my opinions . . . not an easy task!

Hard work, yes...but think how great it will feel to open that door and see not only a clear floor...but something other than concrete...a beautiful wood floor! I'm excited to see it next time we come by. In the mean time, good luck! At least the heat has ebbed for the moment!!!
Love your post...very creative. I can't wait to see all the work you have gotten done. You have been working hard for a long time. I'm with you I would much rather be creative with needle and thread than hammer and saw!
