New Years Eve

I did not want to get cleaned up and go anywhere, but I did and actually enjoyed it! The kids were fun and I even enjoyed a lot of the music. The theme was to dress up as a character from one of your favorite movies. Some kids did and some kids just took it as an excuse to dress comfortably. Sarah went as Lizzie Bennett and looked so pretty and sweet! I have wondered if anhyone knew what a good glimpse they were getting of one of side of her many faceted personality? Another girl went as Jane Bennett. It wasn't planned, they didn't even know each other, but they did get a picture together.

Knowing that Sarah was showing part of herself, I wondered if more kids who actually dressed up were doing the same. We did get to see some pretty fun sides of the kids that you don't see on Sunday. To dance you now stand in a circle and jump around. Boys and girls all mixed ... interesting concept. Visiting with each other does not seem to be hampered at all. What they are missing out on! If memory serves me well, the Book of Mormons got thinner for dancing in college ... and it could be a pretty good guage of how a guy really was in how held you, if he could still talk ad dance at the same time ... blah, blah, blah ... if he behaved himself.

I went as June Clever ready to fix dinner in my heels, pearls, and useless apron. The pearls were bad fakes I have used in decorating a room, they looked so bad with my black and turquoise dress! The apron was one that my mom bought at a church bazaar years ago (about 1960, for raising building fund ) to put on after nice dinners were ready, so that she would look nice at the table. Pretty sure that this was the first time it was ever used ... think I will try it just to have some giggles at the next big family get together which of course will be surrounding food! Jon gave me some lovely, almost straight "seams" on my nylons, which did smear when I crossed my legs and migrated to one side.

*** Funny thought for the day: I grew up fully intending to be just that kind of housewife ! The 70's must have hit hard :-l

Jon went as my dutiful 50's husband. He wore his suit with his pocket protector on the outside with several pens and a little ruler. He couldn't find his pocket slide ruler or his old black rimmed glasses from that I married him inspite of. Greasing his hair was hard ... he nixed the cooking oil so we went with gel instead. Of course he did carry his little briefcase to complete the picture of being gainfully employed. Did you ever watch those old shows and wonder at those people?

The other adults came comfortably and we all sat over in a corner out of the way. Though lots of "trips for small amounts of munchies" seemed to be the order of the night. It was easier on the ears over there, especially after the one speaker was turned away from us. I would have enjoyed visiting more with the other women, but at least I did find another Chick Flick fan so hopefully we can make it to some of the ones that just came out, after Christmas, what's with that? Another post maybe.

Looks like so much fun!! I am so sad though that I don't get to see a picture!! You need to post one. I am sure it was fun. I can't believe your mom put on an apron after dinner so that she would look nice, I am lucky to not have food all over me from the kids, nice or not. She must be quite the woman!!

Sarah is so pretty! I am so proud of her and all that she has accomplished! Sounds like you had fun at your YA dance! I don't understand the dancing these days either. I am sorta glad I grew up when I did!

RaLee went to the the dance at the stake center...her first church dance. She didn't go to any in the past because she thought they would be "lame". But turns out she had a BLAST and I'm so glad she did. The girl does no how to liven up a party and I think they were all glad she came. Teele and I went to Crystal's house for Trey's birthday party then a late night of junk food, phase 10, rook and Wii. Man is my arm sore! I need a Wii just to get me into shape that game is a work out.
