FIRST PAGE --No matter how hard I try to clean, I find myself just shuffling STUFF from one room to another. This is so DUMB. It’s interesting how burdened we as humans can become with our stuff, just “in case”. Jon & I were raised by depression kids who had to live like that to get by. As much as we detested it growing up, we find ourselves doing the same thing, often to excess. I’m not saying being frugal is all bad, it just needs to be kept in perspective. The first few years of our marriage we were glad that we knew the lessons learned by our parents’ tutelage. It helped us get by, stay healthy, stay out of debt, and keep our priorities straight.
Skip forward a few years …. finances eased up. Though we always seemed to be “tight”, we have accumulated so much that paralysis has set in. When all your time is spent looking for something, it is time to PURGE! One page turned and held down by a big old rock.
SECOND PAGE --Change perspective. Different events in lives around me have made me want to “get real”. The lemon tree out back is loaded with fruit. With Garrett’s help, this ole gal is making lemonade! It will take several more days to finish squeezing all the lemons and freeze it up into cubes. Lots of time to think. The first day I did this it hit me, hard! I love lemonade, especially in the nasty, hot, miserable summer that is fast approaching, that will enable me to grow lots of wonderful vegetables for the good of my family, (see it’s already working!) I will have lots of lemon cubes to make lemonade, and remind myself to look at the blessings in my life.
THIRD PAGE –Finish projects or get rid of the stuff to do them with. Hopefully, this will help me to sleep better. One of the projects is just hanging some shelves in our bedroom and put all the knick knacks & pics up to complete our “woodsy” bedroom. That will be so restful and make it a retreat, especially when I get a good reading chair in there that we can enjoy.
I am excited to continue these projects. By rotating through them, I can make progress, rest my feet, back or whichever is tired and not get bored! Wish me luck. I need it ;-}

way to go. i don't even make resolutions, because i know i won't do them.
Okay what room is that? And do you need some help? Seriously Crystal and I are really good at going through stuff/purging. Just let us know. I don't know what my resolutions are this year other than to read the Book of Mormon with the four book/study guides I got. I would like to be more prepared for Christmas and food storage!
That is a creative way to set goals, by turning the pages. Nice literary touch! I'd offer to help but golly gee whiz my house is worse than yours!
Liz, I just might take you up on that offer ... I know you would still love me! ... and we could laugh together.
Linda, Let's not have contest, I don't have the recontruction going on and I would still win ... or is it lose?
Love this post Sharron--the pages, it is a great description of our lives and how we work through those things in our lives, those refining things. Life is a real page turner!! :) And hopefully it and we just keep getting better with each turn of the page.
