Finally, Pictures of the House Paint

The laptop that I usually use is sitting, dead in its little tracks so I am having to learn how to do pictures in an old little laptop.

Here is the front door. The green stripe is the wood trim that I have been thinking about replacing with block to add some contrast and dimension.  For now, I will just take the fresh paint with replacing the wood right under the front window.  The blocks would take a looooong time to cut and place, so maybe in the fall for $$ and time reasons.

I had the painters do the under side with white KILZ primer.  /they liked it bright white, I personally would like to see it softened a little, so I had the store mix up the lightest cream that matches the wall color, cut in half.  I'll try that today and see how it looks.  If it is still too glaring, I can have the rest of the pigment put in.

For months Jon & I have been looking for a light to replace the one over the garage, months.  Maybe even for a couple of years.  We finally found one yesterday with a matching model to hang over the door.  We were pretty excited and relieved . . . now we are wondering if it is too long.  We'll have to decide this morning if it will hit the heads of tall people coming through.

If you look closely, you can see a bunch of sprouts in the middle of the planter.  I was so excited when I went to pull the dead clump of flowers out of the planter an noticed some little green shoots.  These are the indian blanket/wheels of fire flowers that were growing up nice and tall with purple petunias surrounding them.  I am pretty excited having this pot back this year!

This big old blank wall has driven me crazy for a long time, 18 years to be exact.  We are going to build a "custom" trellis (sounds impressive doesn't it?)  for some pyracanthas to grow on.  My intention was to leave a rectangular hole in the middle of it so that the blank wall wouldn't turn into a green wall.  Mariah suggested that I put an old window in to it.  Hmmmm,

I liked the idea so I went and found one.  This will built into the center of the redwood trellis . ..  and o I ever have some fun ideas/plans for it!  Won't the neighbors just love me?

Here are the cute little pyracantha bushes to climb up the wall.  I had a cat's claw there the whole winter and just dug it up.  Now where to put that  . . .  I took some other bushes out that Mariah took off my hands as well.

My miniature bottle brush are blooming!  I love these little guys.  They had a tough winter but stood up to it.  I had plant all of these bushes in a little bit of a random pattern since the foundation  has cement has lots of cement that ran out of the forms and was a left.   I'm hoping it will look OK when they have grown up some.

So that is what we are up to these days and will be for a little longer.  Between the lights and the torn up bathroom sink . . . and a couple of cute little helpers, that should keep us out of the bars for today at least!

Hope this all makes sense.  I keep waking up between 3:30 and 4:30 every morning, and it is taking it toll out of me.  Going to go make the promised macaroni for our breakfast . . .;-D
