Finally . . . . . . An Answer

Yesterday I was visiting teaching, yes the end of the month, but I was doing it.  One of my sisters and I got to talking about good looking Hollywood types.  Have no idea how we got on that, but we did . . . and had some great laughs.

I told her how lots of girls up in Provo used to go and run in the Smith Fieldhouse every morning to try to catch a glimpse of Robert Redford, who it was rumored would run there in the winter time.  When they saw him, they were pretty let down.  He had no makeup on, was very freckled (which I personally would have found appealing) and of course, was a little older than all the movies that were made when he was younger. Oh yeah, there was also Paul Newman.  My SIL had a poster of him in black and white, and blue eyes!

Then we started thinking of all the men we had swooned over while growing up.

Then there was Gregory Peck , be still my heart . . . who wouldn't want the world's greatest father?  And one who could shot so well besides!

When a bunch of friends were swooning over Tom Cruise in "top Gun" I was busy swooning over Tom Skerrit. I have loved him in so many movies, Parent Trap, What the Deaf Man Heard.

And then we CAN"T for get Tom Selleck.  Yes, I feasted my eyes at every opportunity I could manage but . . . . this is when he really stole my heart  . . . . .and Ted Danson really started gagging me.  As far as I am concerned, the deeper all those dimples and and wrinkles get, the cuter he gets.

Then good ole Charlton Heston came up.  Not a pretty, cute or, come on now, let's face it, not even a "handsome" face in the traditional way and yet so many of us were drawn to him.  (Stephen Boyd stole my heart when Ben Hur came out, I as about 11)  Was it his roles, was it his gravely voice?  My friend said that she thought it was what showed in their faces, from within.  I have to agree.

I love to read biographies, of all kinds.  I have been know to read some about these types for a light reading and has been refreshing to read about the celebrities who took their families serious, who still have maintained their pre-Hollywood values and are well grounded on what is important in this life.

Some of these acting heart throbs took their families with them when they would be out of the country for very long.  they made sure there were good tutors and learning experiences for their children, including time with both parents while traveling the world.

When they were filming Mocking Bird, the Peck family included the kids in the movie in their family activities. They all remain good friends to this day.  What does that say about a person.

I am reminded the saying that teaches us that when we are young, we are given the face that nature gave us.  When we are old, we have the face we gave ourselves through our own  choices, decisions, attitudes and actions.

Thanks Kristann, for teaching me and helping me think about something we should all remember! . . . OK and for all the laughs . . . it's fun to be silly with you!

I like that saying you quoted at the end. Nice way of putting things into perspective!

I sat on the same stage as Robert Redford at BYU when he was the guest speaker. I could not believe how skinny his legs were. Face and hair looked really good though!

OK, I am jealous!! His legs are probably skinny from running them off for the cute little co-eds up there!
