I Think I Need a New Whip To Crack . . . .

or in other words, a new technique. . . . .

Jon  I didn't get much done this weekend.  I hate to admit it, but it does put in me in the nicest mood.  If you are hearing about any wild fires on the news, that means there are usually dozens you haven't heard about.  I know any day, he will be incognito for awhile, if we are lucky, so I am pretty antsy.  Good ole' Jon has not a worry about it . . . . GULP!

My Inspiration

In the meantime, he has all the wiring disconnected from the shed that needs to be moved over and my kids inspired me to light a fire under my self.

I was really happy that it only took me about 5 minutes to go around the first two tires, passenger care size, with a jig saw.

Then I took on the next tire.  A big pick up sized tire or maybe it came from a delivery sized truck.  I drilled the pilot hole (what was that little noise I heard?), the jig saw blade wouldn't go down in it.  So I drilled a second hole adjoining the first (there was that little sound again)  The blade fit down into the hole this time, but boy, the rubber must be a lot thicker, I'm having to really work at it this time.

I worked and worked at it.  After finally muscling it about 12 to 14 inches I pulled the blade out and grabbed with the fingers of my other hand ...  that baby was HOT!   After frying my "numb" finger I took a better look at the blade and realized that I had worn down the teeth.

I changed it to more aggressive teeth.  That blade kept getting caught so well that it pulled the blade out of the saw.  I noticed a little glint, of metal (?).  I realized that there was steel belt all the way up the sides.  It took a shopping trip with my favorite little blond 2-year old, whose opinion was invaluable.  I found some hardened saws-all blades for cutting metal.  I was able to make some progress but Jon came and finished it out in about 10 minutes.

I have several more to do, one of which is a really deep tracker tire to do.  I did drill pilot holes in all of them and there are lots of steel belted side walls ahead of me.  I guess I may have to do as far as I can do through out the day and it will get done.  My goal is to have them all cut, in place and ready to fill next Friday when Jon brings the little beasty truck home so I can haul garden soil home.
