Progress in Baby Steps . . Count!

Jon started his day up on the roof.  The cooler has a really hard time starting and we aren't sure why just yet. He had to redo all the electrical connections, plugs, sockets, etc.  It still is dragging to start, so he isn't done yet.

I kept my self busy and handy by assembling these very simple trellises out of masonry ladders and some of the redwood that I spent two days staining.  The "ladders" are what I spray painted black last night.  With a few staples, they were done.  I love them and think my Cape Honeysuckle plants will too.

This is where they will go . . as  soon as we replace the wood that Jon finished tearing out for me.   They will be attached to this wood, so I guess we should get some ridiculously long nails to put the new wood in . . just like we had to take out.

For those of you who have known me for a long time, this is the last of the cursed path across the front of the house.  There were two pavers, plus a little bit more, to be installed.  everyone has been tripping on the rebar, pavers sticking up and into the little trench waiting for the pavers for a couple of years.  The lid is holding the reason for all the delay.  Jon and I dug, dug, and dug some more to get all of these roots up where Jon could lop them off.  The lid is from an old Clout detergent bucket (6 gallon) to give you an idea how big they are.  I have been so afraid that cutting them would hurt the tree, but it hasn't shown any problem from cutting the roots in the past, so lop we did!  These were all growing to the front door area and are probably what has lifted some of the walk a little, so it was pretty necessary now.  I have found out to cut the pavers to fill in the little spots, so this should be a done deal by tomorrow morning.  it'll be so nice to re-level the path, one more time and get the gravel to cover it.  Yahoo!!
