Mother's Day Memories

Aren't these flowers beautiful?  Brianna and the girls sent them to me on Friday morning.  Such a nice surprise.  I know it was a sacrifice, which makes them all the more  appreciated.

Today I substituted for Mariah in her primary class while they went down to Bisbee.  There are only two little girls.  Now I know why Mariah loves them so much.  They are precious, smart, lively, and  precocious young ladies who kept me quite entertained!  They also have been well taught in their homes about the gospel.  I sure appreciate the parents who are teaching gospel in their homes.  it is more important every day . . . and harder ever day.

Listening to the children sing always touches my heart.  Today it really did.  It reminded me of the first Mother's Day after Jon & got married.  I was teaching in the JR. Sunday School.  I had just learned on Tuesday that I was pregnant for sure and was feeling pretty sentimental.  The kids started singing, "Love One Another".  It was the first time I had heard it.  Needless to say, I totally lost it.  These are the words to the song.

Love One Another
As I have loved you, love one another.
This new commandment, love one another.
By this shall men know ye are may disciples
If ye have love love one for another.

The words are so simple and teach such an important principle.  I was feeling kind of emotional, then they stared to sing, "Tell Me the Stories of Jesus".  My mom and I used to sing that a lot when I was a little girl.  Well, that certainly did the trick.  I had to excuse myself to go and get a handle on my tears.

I do love to serve in the primary.  The songs always teach the gospel so well, so clearly.  When the kids are full of energy, it is a little trying, but I do enjoy their spirits.  The primary songs are always good for a lift.  My grand daughters will sing with me sometimes, but not the boys!!

I hope you all had a pleasant Mother's Day!

Heavenly Father knows about all that music that is always in your head, that's why he sent granddaughters to sing with you. The flowers are beautiful! Thanks for covering my class so we were able to pull off that WAY last minute trip to Bisbee.

The flowers are so pretty now that they are opening up...I love flowers. And I also love Primary songs. I have some very special memories related to primary songs. Some of them are quiet moments I had singing them alone when I was little (or grown) and others have come as I have experienced the joys of working in primary, and being a mother. My mother taught me to love music, and I am so grateful for that. The Lord's spirit is with us more when we sing uplifting music...and with that said...I feel moved to
sing! Feel free to join me...
