Poor Stephen . . . You'd Think He Would Learn!

Where once there was a great oak . . . I mean a willow tree.

Stephen and Mariah called yesterday while I was visiting Susan, friend up the street, and said that an excavator was in the neighborhood, would I like to get the willow tree stump out of the front yard.  I hardly gave it a thought and said YES!  Didn't have an idea where Jon was, so I just made an executive decision.  By the time I hustled home, Stephen was out there cutting down the last little bit of the tree so that it would be out of the way.   I don't think he realized that it would take up most of his afternoon, and he did have things to do, but he wanted to help us take advantage of the opportunity.  Mariah brought the boys over so they could watch the "house digger".  That is so exciting to them since there was a change over in the neighborhood by Southwest Gas.  Lots of digging, etc. to watch for weeks!

This afternoon Stephen took all the stuff to the dump, would you believe it all weighed 3,500 lbs.!  The stump had to be loaded into the back of a dump trailer by the "house digger" and it had to be the dump trailer or no one could've pulled it out again.  There were some more trunk and branches, but the stump was the main part of it.  It took at least an hour, I think.

This would be Jon, hooking up the replacement for a cable the got a little bit snapped.  He was tempted by my suggestion to just let the phone stay dead for a few days.

Lincoln, just proving he is all boy ...
being soothed by an excavator!

Root growing under the house ... YIKES!
the little light coloring cable would be the other end of the phone line that Jon is connecting in the first pic, shhhh!

Can you believe the size of
this root ball?!?!?
