Do You See Spots Before Your Eyes . . . ? or Silly Little Things That Give Me Pleasure

Sentimentality is a strong trait in my family.  We would hold on to everything if we could. Several years ago, I was in Joann's Fabrics and saw this really fun polka dot satin.  I kept finding myself going back to it as I shopped around.  I finally cave in and bought some.  Absolutely NO idea what I would ever do with it.  Took it home and made a satin pillow case out of it.  Jon laughed, sure that I had once again, misplaced a few of my marbles.  Soon after that I went up on Mt. Lemmon with the mutual kids for one of the winter retreat over-nighters.  I was running around getting ready for bed. When I came upstairs where all the girls were sleeping. I found several of the beehive girls standing around the head of my bed discussing . . . really? . . .  are you sure . . .?  naw! . . . giggles and just acting kind of puzzled.  I watched for a a bit and then went on over to them and asked what was up.  They looked kind of embarrassed and one finally asked, "Is that your pillow?"  I said, " Yeah, dontcha love it?"  Yeah, but where did you get the pillow case. . . . I made it . .  told them the story how it came about and that I couldn't think of anything else to do with it . . . but why do you have it?   (HUH?   ...  well why not me?) I don't remember exactly what else was said, but I did finally understand that weird old ladies shouldn't usually have fun stuff like that!  The other beehive leader thought it was pretty funny.   She knew that I wasn't nearly as old and fuddy 

duddy as those funny girls thought I was . .  and still had a sense of humor.

I have had fun hauling that silly pillow case all over the country.  Traveling in CA to see relatives, to drive up to Camp Lassen with Sarah, all over the SW to wild fires.  If it was strapped to the outside of my luggage, it was so easy to spot my luggage when flying!

Anyway, it has developed so many of those nasty little "pills" on it that it is hard to sleep on, so I am taking a picture and saying good bye to an old friend that has helped me snuggle to sleep many nights.  Too sentimental? Never!!  Just me being me!

This would be the little star shaped on that I found a few years ago when shopping for wedding gift at BB&B . . . . just couldn't resist having a matched set!!
