Jon came home with parts to fix the old truck, now that the new old truck running right . . . really fast at night cause the dash lights don't work and you can't see the speedometer ;-D
Because of the way we were raised, we can think out of the box and save a lot of money. So good things have also come from the depression.
Stephen was driving that old beast the last time the alternator caught on fire, think I already shared that. Jon went to get the parts to fix it. Just the wiring harness was $ 120 - $130! so my sweet, clever old feller scrounged around, found the connectors and is fixing it for about $15. That will help pay for the alternator itself!
Little secret Jon didn't know until after we got married. Whenever I dated a guy:
- I would check out his hands. If they were softer than mine, he was out the door.
- If he couldn't carry on an intelligent conversation about how cars ran, etc. out the door. With my limited knowledge on that, I had saved a lot of money when taking my car into be worked on.
- If he had an icky bathroom, he was really out the door.
Jon about died when he found out that I checked out his bathroom as soon as I could. I was falling hard and fast and didn't want to be too attached if there was that problem. Is that weird? I have known guys who didn't respect their wives enough to spare them that "little" problem. Not to worry, he passed with flying colors! Just a little dusty . . .

Definitely good things to look into before getting serious! Good luck with the car troubles...we just finished up another round ourselves.
