Bloomhilda in All her Glory!

I am so glad that I went to the Silver Bell Nursery and found someone who loves fuschia plants.  That would be when I found out that they love Seattle, WA.  So much for Home depot selling what will do best in your local climate!  They need humidity ( 30 to 40 %), no direct sun, between 40 & 90 degrees, at the most, acid soil, no hot dry wind.  Prefect!  I understand that I will need to bring it into the swamp cooled air during May and June, until the monsoon comes in with it's humidity.

I did pick the least terrible spot for it, but now I water the gravel, yes gravel, and the walls around it so that there will be some moisture around it during the hot afternoons.  Once in the morning and at least once later day to cool the entry way and keep it moist.    If I have to, I will take a humidifier out and run it during the afternoons.  Is it working?

On another happy note . . . . look what I found!  I knew it had to be here somewhere here!  I know it's JUST a silly small knife, but it is my favorite and I have really missed it for a loooong time.  I haven't been able to find a good replacement either.  If I remember correctly, it came from a oriental foods market in Chandler and I just haven't been anywhere near it since that last trip several years ago.

Hey, you didn't tell us WHERE you found your missing knife! That could have been an interesting little detail. :) Glad you have it back. It is hard to replace a "favorite" kitchen utencil!

I just walked around my favorite nursery with my mom yesterday and we were admiring all the beautiful fuschia plants! I loved the ones they had in big hanging baskets. They were so beautiful. My mom says she has to come to KS every spring just to see the plants that will grow here! :D Good luck with your gardening!
