THE SPEED . . . . .
THE EXCITEMENT . . . .
THE ROAR OF THE CROWD . . . .
THE COMFORT OF IT ALL . . . .
When I tried to get up off the couch Jon woke up, saw the camera and said, "You took my picture." Didn't ask, just stated. We talked a bit and I realized that he has no idea just how precious and endearing I find him . . . . more so each and every day. This is a man who enjoys his comfort zones . . . no, relishes is a better word for it. Yet, he is willing to leave them so many times and in so many ways.
The last few years, we have had more times to enjoy each other and really get to know just who we have been married to for 31 years. Pretty interesting!
He works "part-time" now that he has "retired". That means that he tries really hard to keep his work week under 40 hours. There can be quite a bit of driving as well. He came home so tired, again, and pitched right in to the wedding project for the entire evening. I finally left last night at 11:3o pm. He got home at 12:30 am. He felt good that he was able to help until everything was done. and hauled off.
We have not had the "perfect" marriage. We've had our ups and downs. Each up was all the sweeter for the down or plateau it might have followed. Our downs have been times to protect the other's feelings and sense of well being. We have tried to be careful to attack the "problems", not each other. If we seem to be at a plateau, we find ways to reach out to each other and give the forward, upward motion in our relationship a boost. We embrace our difference of opinions and tastes . . . . the evolving of our personalities over the years.
Is it any wonder that I find this funny ole' guy so darned cute and that he still can make my little ole' heart go pitter patter?

I think the more time we are married (we are going on 34 1/2) the better the marriage gets! I just love it!
Isn't it amazing how watching a husband nap can pull on your heartstings?
