So as the grandparents were gathering, they were given a badge to wear reminding us that the best way for us to teach these youngsters is by our example. There was a program including some songs by the kids and then comments by the principle thanking us for our influence in the lives of the children.
Grandpa Joe is just a "little" hard of hearing, but Gabriel was very good to remember to get right up there to explain where they needed to go to get lunch. It was pretty cute watching this long stretch of a grandpa leaning way down to hear what this little guy had to say to him. Joe is well over 6' tall.
Even though Mom had paid for him to get the special lunch prepared for the grandparents, Gabriel chose to eat what was packed that he knew was soy free. He wanted to stay on green light for his behavior that day. Pretty good planning on his part.
Finally we got our picture taken at the little set up they had there. The school usually has something set up for families to get nice pictures on these special celebrations.
Grandpa Joe has a hard time in crowds like that. The noise also makes it hard for him to hear, so when he had enough, he went back out to the van . . . without saying anything. I was a little nervous until I figured out where he was. He was also cold the whole time, so he enjoyed sitting in the closed van just to warm up!
We went back in then and finished up. Monkey Boy had to make sure I knew just what that climbing wall was for. He went almost up to the top, but I didn't have my camera out just then. I thought we were just on the way back to his classroom! Funny kid, he has an agenda, and made sure we got through he whole thing!
