What In The World Did Poor Old Grandpa Do?

Anyone remember the book, "The Good Earth"?  I have always loved that book by Pearl S. Buck.  In fact, Reader's Digest used to publish a lot of her books in the condensed versions.  Loved all of them.

Well, anyhow,  the last two times the boys have come over for an overnighter, they have decided that they wanted to sleep in my big bed, not the Monkey Room or the camping bed on the floor in my bedroom.  Last night, when I couldn't get back to sleep, due to the kicks and thumps, I had to think about the grandfather in The Good Earth.

When the man and his wife had a second baby, they said that, "The first one could now sleep with the grandfather to warm his old bones".  Now I have been working outside a lot lately and every bone & muscle in my body has been hurting.  Yes, those little guys produce lots of warmth, but boy howdy!  Is it really enough to make up for the beating a body takes with those sleeping little orangutans?   They should be exhausted by the time the get up in the morning, that's all I have to say about that!

I just have to wonder if Grandpa made them mad or something!   BTW, if you ever get a chance, the old black & white movie, "The Good Earth" is also good.  One of the few that were made pretty true to the book!

That particular little orangutan feels the need to wake up EARLY to top off the gymnastics he does all night.

Throw that critter on the camping mat, it's good for him. That way I get left alone about going camping for real. :)

Well I don't think I've ever read that book or seen the movie. I really don't like old movies not even when I was little and they were new! LOL I watch movies made in the 70's and 80's and laugh. I might have to break down and watch it.
As for the kids this "Grandma" has to have her sleep...I'm with Mariah put them on the camping mat...but I don't know we are suckers when it comes to those little munchkins aren't we? I recall a rough night with Trey and I'm the one that curled up on the floor...LOL . Ive said it before and I'll say it again...Your a good Grandma!
