I got to take the boys to see the summer movie today. The only seats that were left were in the very front row. My mom would never sit there when I was a kid . . . after today, it's no surprise.
First I had to move my progressive bifocals to the top of my head. Then it was time to see if I could plug my ears somehow, move my pony tail down so it wouldn't be rubbing on the seat when I tilted my head back to see the screen and then try to get comfortable.
You will all be happy to hear that there is nothing to worry about. Aliens are not little green men, they look just like we do, area 51 is really Base 9 and it is found under someplace that looks suspiciously like Radiator Springs, as a ghost town . . . . you can't miss it.
The best part of the movie were the dogs. Planet 51 dogs have long sticky tongues just like ours do. They are friendly, playful and put out a green gas out the back end. That would really help with the clean-up in the yard. Though Rover was really of a robotics in nature, he was also harmless, friendly, loved to learn new tricks and put out a puddle of oil when he was really frightened. Now that would be a little inconvenient!
So in the long run, it wasn't the worst movie in the world and had fun making fun of lots of movies that were supposed to be exciting and suspenseful. Not really painful, as long as you aren't sitting in the front row! I must admit, I am hoping there isn't a Planet 52 lurking about somewhere in the Universe . . . . even from the back row!

I haven't even heard of that movie-what a treat for the boys, I am sure the kids enjoyed the time withyou
Rub it in that we didn't get to go!!! But glad you guys had fun. Sorry about the front row...I'm sure that was an adventure all of its own.
I rented that movie a while back and Teele and really enjoyed watching it...kind of cute. I'm with you I HATE the front row!!!
We trained the girls early to head straight for the very top/back row. Best parenting ever! Not a bad movie - I think the green "humans" are rather cute looking.
luckily i just had to hear it on our our last road trip.
