Today Jon was clearing the table, picked up this and asked, "What is this?" Isn't it neat? I found it digging in the front yard. I had to giggle, guess some of us haven't grown out of the "pretty rock" thing. I love this world and love what treasures we find everywhere. This was mixed up with ugly gray gravel that I have been dying to get rid of . . . look what I would have missed out on. Both boys think it is pretty. I wouldn't have had the chance to share it with them and show them all the little pockets in it.
The Maskeys & Huishes are still in the middle of Bountiful Baskets. Even poor little Gabriel has been sucked into the process. When he stays on "green light" for making good choices at school, he gets a sleep over and that means going with us.
He helps set the baskets out in pairs in very straight lines, straight being a relative term. Then he runs boxes over to Papa as they are emptied. It helps get them flattened faster. Then he dangles all over the bed of the truck giving his Nanny heart palpitations. Not to worry, no child labor laws were broken, we don't pay the little man squat! Oh, except for a special breakfast when we get back to Papa & Nanny's house.
After breakfast, this week, I caught Jon in all his glory, a radio in each hand. I asked him if he was trying to get hold of himself. He gave me one of "those" looks. Ha ha! He forgets they don't work on me nearly as well as they did the first 20 years we were married.
Poor guy, he has been supporting me in all the weird stuff I would get involved in and now he is there with Mariah at BB. He doesn't moan & groan for too long before we get there. He loves the Saturdays when he can roll over and go back to sleep!
Later that day, I decided to clean the spots on my kitchen floor. I found these outdoor rugs at Home Depot for $3.00 I bought 3 to put where I stand most of the time in the kitchen. I loved them so much I went back and got enough to put everywhere. They cushion my feet, keep them warm on cold mornings, & catch most of my spills. So out they went and out came the water hose. I love to make things easy and these are doing that little job for me.
When I asked your opinions, six of you said that you thought I should keep this for popcorn and only one, Sandy, said that I should make a planter out of it. Now I know that most of you want me to stay fat. So here I sit, it was full, and it will have no holes drilled in the bottom for now. Sandy thought it would be a good conversation piece. I found something on the patio that I used to use as a planter. Maybe it's about time to use it again.
What do you think. Yes, it is what you think it is. This little gem was what Jon's mom and her sisters used this at night until their parents got the indoor water closet built into the house. It was like a funny little closet. The sink and bathtub were in their own room. When I found this in Aunt Georgia Mae's garage, I had to have it! I snuck it home and Mariah was so ticked that I actually brought it. She was probably just really bugged that I managed to get it here without her knowing it.
Now I think I will go and make another batch of salsa like I made last week. Everyone really liked it. I enjoyed just opening the can of chiles, just like I did when growing up and I opened them up for my mom.
She loved those crazy pickled jalapenos. She would chop them up and put them on her eggs, mashed potatoes, and on anything else she thought they would be good. One of her favorites was to make a sandwich out of two pieces of white bread, Miracle Whip, 1/4: slices of onion, and sliced the jalapenos. Can you believe it?

Sounds like a good week. And the desert does look good! I'm sorry I missed out...I had some terrible tummy troubles going on inside of me yesterday. Now that is gone and has been replaced by a terrible headache. :( But I thought of you guys!
The strawberry pie creation looks really good and I just LOVE homemade salsa. Good thing I have a husband who makes homemade salsa.
