As Mariah and I were leaving the school, after the play, we saw this hanging in a tree in front of the campus. She got kind of excited and said, "Oh look, I think it's a Ben's Bell!" I had no idea what she was talking about, so she explained it to me.
The day that she and Stephen were married, one of the interpreters that she works with lost her young son to croup. Ever since, the family has been making these bells, by hand, and hang them around town as gifts to others and in Ben's memory.
We thought about taking it down, but she decided that it may have been a gift to the school that was left during the play performance. I went back to take a picture of it as a high school age girl ran up to it so excited. I asked her if I could take a picture of it before she took it down.
It ended up that she had been a classmate of little Ben and had hoped to find one of his bells ever since. Needless to say, we were pretty glad that we had left it there!

That is so awesome...what a good idea! CROUP? That's scary...Jayden has been very sick with croup this week something she struggles with several times a year. She is on Prednisone and breathing treatments...Spencer stayed up the other night ALL night long with a stethoscope listening to her heart beat...it was beating four times then skipping the fifth beat something to do with another med she is on. So that's scary to hear of this little boy named Ben passing from it...scary stuff.
Glad you left the Bell for this girl who knows maybe you will find another one day
That is neat that they do that. And how special I feel, just knowing it was out there. And I'm glad to know that one of the students who knew Ben was finally able to find one of his bells.
That is very touching and what a nice surprise for that young lady.
