Gabriel and Garrett have gotten into a stage where they like to negotiate on if and how many vegetables they have to eat when they are over here . . . yeah right!
Yesterday my little buddy Susan and I decided we needed a little "play" time. She is a CPA who just survived Tax season and is really bushed. She specializes in some of the biggest pains when it comes to figuring taxes and could hardly wait for Saturday. (That'll teach her to get all that book larnin'!) So off we went to do a little yard selling. She had no cash and I just had the change from my nightstand.
She bought nothing, didn't even really look at anything, that was when I realized this friend just needed time out with the "girls".
After I bought some canning jars with new lids and no chips, a short booster that will store under the van seats until needed, we decided we needed to check out this new Asian Market that had opened nearby. Eureka! What a find! Their produce was beautiful and priced quite reasonably and the market didn't smell like another one on our side of town. We want to go back with a digital camera so that we can snap some of the new things we saw, with the labels. Then we can look them up on the internet to see what in the world they are and what to do with it ; +) She is planning to cut back to working just Tuesdays thru Thursdays so we would be able to try stuff, share the cost and use the boys as guinea pigs . . JK, they aren't very adventurous. Hm-m-m-m, maybe my little dollies would like to try new things?
Well, the point of all this and the title of the post is . . . . when I got home Gabriel told me about the great hotdogs he and Papa had made for lunch. Perfect. When he told me what went on them, there were no veggies mentioned . . . perfect. So I called his attention to that little fact.
"Doesn't the pickle count?" ( He has seen me make pickles and knows what they start out to be)
"Oh no, do you want broccoli or carrots?" (He hates broccoli ;-} )
"Ooo, not broccoli or carrots."
"You have to pick one."
"OK, carrots"
"How many?"
He gets this little sly look in his eyes, "Just one?" Now he looks really sly.
I get a very sly look in my eyes (I'm sure, couldn't really see) and pull this baby out of my bag!
His eyes widened for just a second . . sad to say, our little man has wised up to the world and knows that his Nanny and Papa love to pull his leg. He got a pretty good laugh over it, cause he knew we would never make him eat more than 5 baby carrots and "That carrot is worth about a hundred carrots!"
Now I can hardly wait for dinner this afternoon so I can pull the same thing on Garrett. He's only gone to preschool so far, not hard core Kindergarten! (I will try to have a camera ready this time.) Then I will put Papa to work grating it for Carrot Cake! . . . . now why is it that I just never seem to get down under this plateau I'm stuck at?

That is a good sized carrot and mmm, carrot cake!
We just showed Tati the carrot, and she said..."I wanna eat it!!!"
:) Save some for her, if you can!
Oh Naughty grandma!!
That's so funny! You have got to get that picture...nice looking carrot by the way.
haha - have you ever made green smoothies? GREAT way to get all your veggies in - let me know if you want the recipe. The boys might think it's cool that they can have a green drink!!
