The Cake . . . . . Full of worm . . . . I Mean Dinosaurs . .

So here is THE cake.  I took the chicken way out and made a Texas Sheet cake.  I have never had one turn out badly . . .  really . . . even I can't make it into a door stop . . .  or deadly weapon.  Sarah was here and she did most of the arranging on the top.  With a couple of "suggestions"  which she took very well, of course.  The dump truck has a little dino driver, that was the only one we could fit a beastie on . . . so had to do something with the rest, right?    There is a "lava" filling ( blended up cherrie pie filling with instant clear jell to thicken it better)  and the rocks are almond flavored to compliment the filling.

If you want the recipe for the cake and candy frosting, you can find it on my food blog in the next day or two . . . have lots to do the next day or two and just want to plow through it . . . once and for all!!!

Mariah saw the little dinosaur that was partially exposed by the "digger" on the right . . . .  little did she know that there were all kinds of prehistoric treasures all over the cake.  Dang . . . . I am so funny!  it was a big ole hit with the kids, not surprising, and made cutting the cake lots of fun for Mariah.

That's awesome! I never know what to do for the boys' birthday cakes. Of course, they seem to only ask for certain Transformer characters or other guys off tv. I love the dinosaur dig idea!

Excuse me . . . that would be a "construction" cake . . . . Garrett might be listening!?!?!?!

That is why we have gone to toys, gummy fish, little yellow ducks, and whatever is CHEAP to pull it off. Lincoln had a monkey cake and I wish Jon had thought of the barrel of monkeys sooner so I would have had time to go buy a set. Would have been so much better.

This started when Sarah was a little girl and wanted a "My Little Pony" cake and the next year an "Ariel" cake :- D

The kids sure loved the cake. Some of those little boys were determined to make sure ALL the dinos had been unearthed. It was cute. :)
