It's been a very busy day. The first thing I did was go out and check up on this year's "Wild Kingdom".
I think it was last Sunday night, Jon & I were sitting in the family room, just enjoying a quiet moment, such a rare thing these days. The dogs were snuggled there with us, trying to wedge themselves between us, when all of a sudden they bolted up and jumped for the window that goes down quite far on the wall. It has an AC unit in it and no screen. Since it is open a few inches to vent the cooler, it's free game to little critters like this one. It ran under the cedar chest and got stuck in a sticky board that we put there in case any mice came in.
We spent a long time carefully getting its back toes loose and trimming the card board along its tail so that it could go on its merry way. Unfortunately, its merry way was the front door that it was facing when its tail was freed. We couldn't believe it! We couldn't spot it, couldn't hear anything, so I kept an eye out for it and kept listening, all to no avail.
Yesterday, as Garrett was "settling" down for a nap in the monkey room, he told me there was something behind the door. I didn't catch it really because it was such a long name . . . in his eyes this little guy was a regal crested lizard. Wish I had looked, though it may not have made a difference. Later after dinner, they showed it to daddy and Stephen got to catch it for me and get it outside. It was breathing but not much else.
When I came home from Brianna's concert, it had moved a little to the little lid of water and was laying there. I got to thinking that maybe it needed to be warmed up, since it was night and there was no sun. I built this little house for it from a box ( a hole in the bottom of it so I could set it over the lizard without disturbing the poor little critter), warmed a rock up to put in the box, and tucked it in for the night.
I finally got to bed at 12:30 am.
It was out and about this morning, but when I watched it move, I could tell it was badly injured. Now what? I watched over it until I knew it was gone. I felt so badly, that I decided to go and check on our little dove mama bird.
She's back this year. Once again, I hadn't gotten the nest moved to something to suspend it above the shelves it's sitting on. So here is another year with an excuse to not get that little project done. Actually, I have a plan that I will start moving on tomorrow morning.
Then preschool was over. I was cleaning up from the biscuits that I made this morning for the Maskeys, AKA my kitchen guinea pigs. BB keeps having just the 9-Grain and it upsets Mariah's and the boys systems. I was going in and out of the kitchen, not worrying much about Garrett & Lincoln. They were running around and around with my plastic storage buckets. Amazing how they have loved those for two days now. Made me think that I should just get rid of all the toys in the corner of the family room . . . wahoo . . more room!
Now what was funny, I kept getting, "Nanny, what's this?" and there was something that I had been looking for, or didn't even remember that I had. I now have two silicone sheets that I can put in my pans and not have to wash them.
I also have a silicone sheet to roll out pie crusts, etc. You know, the ones with the circles on it.
This was my floor when they left. I didn't have them clean up so that I could sort and cull them out. Maybe while the cupboard is almost empty, I'll go ahead and empty it on out. It is leaning a lot. I have had to keep rebuilding it since we moved it Mariah's senior of high school, class of '97. Hopefully, I can manage at least one more rebuild!
Oh, and this has been missing for a week now. Arianna was "cooking" with it last Wednesday. I didn't realized how often I used it until I couldn't find it :-D
Arianna is so cute and her imagination so fun. She is also quite the little leader. When she is there, the games begin and everyone seems to be happy to follow along. Over here, it's I'm the wife and your the husband and then assigns roles on down the line. Not usually worrying about what gender anyone is. the boys will be embarrassed someday if they remember.

Tupperware cupboards are the BEST!!! :)
That used to be Kelsey's favorite thing too. I have many pictures of her inside the cupboard.
The zoo looks like it was very fun too!
I don't know what you mean by ordinary!! :)
