JUST ANOTHER DAY, AND IT'S ONLY 9:45 AM

Yesterday my little dollies were here.  First was a quick bath before any boys showed up.  Next we had breakfast, some "Papa Eggs", made with a chopped up hot dog.   A little toast and shared a big slinky apple. Primped the hair, went potty in the toilet not in the drawers {:-D.  Did a little story reading, finished baking the pumpkin chocolate chip cookies (made with sweet potatoes), enjoyed the easy listening channel on the cable, drew pictures, shared stories, just a very pleasant day in general.  Even after picking up Garrett at preschool, it stayed pretty calm. When he started to show off for the girls (what is it with these little boys these days anyway?) he was pretty easy to calm down and get involved with playing "husband and wife".

Afternoon brought making "Celery Soup".  This is like "Stone Soup".  Any soup that contains celery is "Celery  Soup" .  We had lots of fun thinking of new things to add.  Arianna  was the chief chef for the soup, so Tatianna was the main bakery chef for the Angel Biscuits.  They were very cooperative, usually patient waiting for me to gather everything and chop it up.  Cutting out the biscuits, in turn, was lots of fun.  The biggest problem was those little pills love the dough as much as I do, but there is yeast and will give you a mongo tummy ache later!

Then this morning hits . . . .  Lincoln was playing in the pot lids, just like every day . . . . just the usual banging . . . I am standing about 4 feet away.  I look over at him and one of my favorite lids with glass in the middle, shattered!    I didn't hear anything especially loud, just turned around and he was a having a wonderful time playing with the pretty little sparkly pieces.  It was made of safety glass so there were no large pieces.  He was sure ticked off with me when I took him to the naughty pen and left him there while I cleaned up.  I did give him toys to play with so the hollering didn't last too long.

Then it off to the video shelves.  That little guy LOVES to climb UP and grab those things to fling all over the place, flashing his little old man grin the whole time.  Naughty pen twice, with no toys now.  Finally got the baggy omelets made (figuring the timing for several cooking at once for my food blog).  I had to hog tie the little beastie in his booster seat and feed him to get something done.

Next, Garrett came over, "Nanny, can you take the sticker out of my shoe?"
"Sure, No problem."   Hmmmm, looks kind of fat . . . . I wonder . . . .   Oh ouch (cringe)  "Wow Garrett, I'm glad that it missed your toe!"

So we got to work to get it out . . . . couldn't push it out from inside, couldn't find Papa's hemostats, tweezers wouldn't grip it tightly enough,  couldn't grab it very well with the finger nails . . . what to do, what to do . . .

Maybe . . .  my new little vice would help!  And I pinched and Garrett walked happily ever after.

Ahh....my girls play with my pots and pans all the time and I would hate if a lid shattered....thanks for the heads up! You sound like such a fun grandma - those kids are lucky.

PS - if you go to Chuck E. Cheese, sign up first online for their e-club. We got a coupon for $19.99 that was a large pizza, 4 drinks and 30 tokens (which was PLENTY!). The price for that package without a coupon was $36.99 - YIKES!!! I would have never paid that! Just a thought.

Arianna told me all about "her" specialty at Granny Nanny's house the Celery Soup that you made together. It made quite an impression on her. Don't you just love making these kinds of memories with the grand children?
