My Life Continued . . . . . . .

I sometimes feel like I make no head-way in my many attempts to make this poor old house a home.  Last year I was working away at getting a gravel path along the front of the house.  Jon helped me some but then pooped out on me, but it did make a big old dent in the row of pavers.  Now, the goal is to plant at east one paver a day.  It should be done in less than two weeks, then I will try to get the gravel to finish it up.  It will be such a relief.

I keep reminding myself of the time I came home to Christmas lights, all lit up, thanks to Jon.  It felt so good, I had arrived "home".  I sat in the car and cried.  He finally came out to see why I hadn't walked in the house yet.  When he saw me sitting there bawling, he thought he had goofed.  It took quite a bit talking to convince him they were happy tears!  (Just what does that say?  Yes, I felt pretty guilty)  Any hoo, that is my goal.  To feel like I am home when ever I drive up the drive way.

I tease Jon about how he tricked me.  He owned the cutest house when we got married.  There was so much talk about what he wanted to do to the house, starting with peeling all the wall paper.  One guess who did all that peeling . . . . .  "so that he wouldn't have to worry about it".  Big ole turkey, not much has changed over the last 32 years.  Unfortunately, as my body has fallen apart, so has his.  Makes it a little tough to get things done.  He has to help me when he is in town, I just don't have the physical strength any more, hate that!  I decided that it is important that he does contribute here at home so he isn't just a paycheck.  Sound good to you?

On the positive, being a wimp now, I probably will quit doing all the internal damage.  Been there, done that (twice), don't want to go back for anymore surgery!

So what this gets to is, I have to have lists.  I just keep adding to the old ones so that I can see at a glance what I have done.  Focusing on that instead of what is left helps the discouragement from setting in, at least for too long.
