WALKING THE LINE . . . . . . .?

Last night when Jon finally got home, we had a nice dinner and then I hit him with the first, and probably only "honey-do" for the this weekend.  We borrowed the Twin's (Maskeys) truck to go and pick up something we didn't want to put in the back of the van.  How far we have come, I hauled everything in our old full sized vans, with lots of tarps for protection.

Jon noticed the lack of a red cover on the left tail light, checked the bulbs . . . and we started out with a little muttering.  You know how he is, gets everything fixed as soon as it breaks . . .  HA!

We pick up the stuff, are driving slowly to not have anything tip over, etc.   The next thing we know, we are pulled over by a policeman.  He comes over and starts about the light.  Next thing we know Jon is being told that he also crossed over the line on the edge of the pavement, both right wheels all the way over it, while driving ten MPH under the speed limit.  All good reasons for suspecting a drunk driver.  As they are talking, Jon is asked if he has had anything to drink tonight, is he OK to drive . . . . . .  yes, I am REALLY enjoying all this.  If you know Jon, no way Jose!!!!  We can't find the registration, insurance card . . . . . yada, yada . . . . the whole time I am thinking, "Come on, make him get out and walk the line  My phone takes pictures!"

After going and checking on the computer he came back with Jon's license, told him that I haven't picked up any signs of drinking . . . .   AKA . . . . he is thinking, "all I smell on  your breath is GARLIC"  (dinner was my own version of Mediterranean chicken, yum, garlic) . . . . . so have a safe drive home and please get that rear light turned amber or red".

In his defense, their truck does feel like the steering is loose, it's not, it just most GM products have a different steering ratio that make them handle "funny".  When Jon makes remarks about that truck, I remind him that we borrow theirs because ours has been parked in the back yard waiting for a new alternator, for close to a year now, if I remember right.  I'll have to ask Stephen, he was driving it when it caught on fire . . . . . for the third time!  Poor kid, another story, another time.  Pretty funny day for me, not him.

I got the tiniest glimpse of what others go through when they or a family member is stopped for DUI.  Not funny.  I am so thankful that it isn't a worry in my life.  I hope it never is.
