Ah, Sassy, and just what would this little pile of stuff be? The monkey room is used daily, and needs to be monkey friendly, hm-m-m-m-m.
She called the night before her first load come over and asked if I could help her "finish" a medieval dress for the cub camps this summer. I was more than just a little annoyed because she was talking about going out and taking a friend and her dad out shooting and then going rock climbing the next day. When she walked in with some fabric with a few pieces, not all, pinned to it, I was not in a very good mood. I was trying to get some of my own projects finished (like the 100 ft. of straps to turn for the water bottle holders at girl's camp). I tell you, that girl's hair should never have turned dark brown! She should've been a blonde for life to warn the unsuspecting world! She has such a good heart, pure gold, through and through, but such a pretty little ditz!
The dress is the weirdest pattern, poorly designed with gussets, so I have reinvented the top part around the shoulders as I have gone along. Yes, I caved! It is actually turning out pretty cute. She'll be wearing it every day in the dirt for several weeks, so I am thinking about making a second one to surprise her when I mail it up to her. I convinced her that having someone else lace up the back every day might get to be a nuisance, so a zipper will do and then hem it. I have put some machine embroidery on the contrasting parts to tie them in and so it has been fun.
While trying to get an idea how much room would needed for her stuff, I was trying to move a suitcase full of books and ripped off a toenail, down to the root. I just removed the last 1/8 inch that was still attached at the root. it has been a gradual process all week. Lifting, catching trimming, soaking . . . such a relief!
She did call occasionally to let me know that her trip was going OK on Saturday. Her last call was from Tamecula. They weren't told to get physicals, so a bunch of them were taken in there to get them. While she was waiting, I got a call on a strange phone number. Almost ignored it. It was Sarah telling me what was going on . . . and oh yeah . . . . she had locked both sets of keys in her car at the camp. What was it I just said about her hair . . . .? We have another set and were wondering if she needed us to overnight them to her. A couple of calls and one email later, we did finally find out this morning that they had been able to get in and get her keys. Don't know how, don't care, not my problem.
So now that I have gotten my outside work done, at least as much as I am going to do today and the boys short visit is over, it is back to my sorting, sewing when my back gets tired and getting some big ole black yard bags filled to try to squeeze into the dumpster before they come, so that I can start all over for next weeks pickup!!
Now don't eat your hearts out girls, not everyone can have an exciting life like mine!

u helped her & let her go out? my mom would have made me sit there until it was done!!!
Have to say I'm glad I didn't have a dress dropped off for me to sew...I don't want to sew another dress for quite some time! However Sunday I was thinking about making Ray a new dress for church and I quickly silenced that thought! Your toe looks OWIE OWIE OWIE! Makes me cringe just to think of it! Glad Sara made it to Cali safely.
I was just thinking how jealous of you I am!
Well Stephanie, was it the toe, dingy daughter or unfinished projects that you are lusting after. They just might all be up for grabs!
Why is Sarah home? I must have missed that discussion. Sorry about the toe! Owie!!!!
