Weird Little Dream of Mine . . . .

Good News / Bad News

Jon is on his way to a wild fire.  That's the good news.  While on a fire, he actually paid what he is worth.
Jon is on his way to a wild fire.  That's the bad news.  I'm not with him.

If I had my way, I would have a way to follow him to these fires.  I would camp nearby, with my awful little dogs.  I would be able to set up a quilt to work on . . .  and my thumbs would hold up to a whole bunch of stitching.  I would have a way to play my favorite music, my awful little dogs would just drowse at my feet and not bark at every noise they heard.  Jon would be able to come for his little siesta time in the afternoon (he has to take a break in the middle of the day when things are somewhat quiet so that he doesn't go over 16 hours in a 24 hour period).  I would be able to bake and cook and experiment on my camp stoves, etc. so that he can eat healthy while he is out.

I would be there at 5:00 am to send him out the door, well, maybe the tent flap, to face a long, dusty day.  I would be here to help him relax when he wishes he had all the equipment to do the job he wants to do, excellent.  I would be there when he finishes his day at 10:30 or later to listen and to have some giggles with him so that he can clear his mind and sleep better.  I would be there to see that smile only he can smile when he "arrives home", where ever it might be.

If a nice little old lady dreams of being a "camp tramp" (follower, but that doesn't rhyme ;- o  ), even for her own husband,  is she still respectable?  I think so.

Well, I know you will welcome the income, but I am sorry that you cannot go with him. When Rob was gone for 21 weeks, it was hard to not be there for him, or have him there for me. I understand how you feel.

Sorry you can't be with him--it is great to be able to be there for them when they are coming and going, anything to help ease the load, tent flap or hotel in Hawaii, I would want to be there too. :)

Hep very respectful! Too bad all marriages are not like this! I see too many that need a dose of what you and Jon have! What a blessing for your family!
