Fridays are fun but long days around here. Rob, Brianna & the girls come over and enjoy the movie with Mariah, Stephen and the boys. Then everyone comes over for lunch. Usually, the boys go home for nap/quiet time, but today we had the whole gang the whole day.
Brianna has agreed to help me work on cleaning out my many "collections" and make this house functional again. I don't think she realized just what that might entail, but she is a good sport with a brave heart and I am so grateful with the help. I get so bogged down trying to cull out everything. Too many decisions.
We did have some fun as well. I am trying to post more often on my food blog, so I used our little monkeys for guinea pigs. The moms helped each of them make their won foil dinners and then made their own. Poor Jon. When he opened his, he commented that in over 50 years he had never had a good foil dinner. We cooked them in the BBQ. He came in and told me it was at 500 degrees, so I said to just turn off one of the burners. He has been married to Spacetta too long.

He came in later and asked, "Do know when I put those on out there?" Oops! You can guess the rest! I have taught him well . . . . BTW . . .This would be making a great case for using cabbage leaves. They add lots of water and insulation because of their nature. I even had half a head in the fridge and didn't take it out.

After that the boys finally "settled" down a bit . . . . I have noticed that when the kids all get together, the girls can get just as "lively" shall we say, but they are somewhat quieter about it. Brianna and I were able to get a couple of projects done. Well, she did while I played with my sewing machine. BUT it was getting some things done and out of here. I finally got the names on the boys' Sunday bags. Like them? I tried to do it directly on the bags . . . Mariah picked it out. I had Brianna bring over the girls' Christmas aprons so I could do the same to them. I finally got the stabilizer stuff out, put the names on fabric using that and just sewed the patches on everything. It gave me some nice calm time with the girls while they watched the machine stitching. Gabriel likes to watch this too, Garrett and Lincoln last . . . . m-m-m-m-m, about 30 seconds and they're off and into more stuff. Life is always the process of learning new things.
I had Brianna make her piano runner and next time she comes over, she gets to make piping and set it into the cover for her piano bench cushion. That will be a good time for the two of us to gang up on a project. HATE piping!! It keeps me so humble, every time!
I do enjoy doing things like this with my girls, all of them. I am one very blessed old gal! Once again, Jon & I are counting ourselves so fortunate that we love, like and enjoy all of our grown children all five of them We both know many who don't enjoy that wonderful blessing!
