Such a day it has been.  We had a shooting in our town involving one of our congress representatives.  Though I did not vote for her, was upset when she eeked out the victory last November, I am horrified that this would happen to anyone.  As Jon said, " That is NOT supposed to happen in our country!"

Our thoughts, hopes and prayers are with those who lost their lives today and especially the loved ones left behind.  I keep wondering who the 9 year old child was there with, how they are doing and is that family dealing with losing two members of their family.

This just drives home once again how important it is for all of us to educate ourselves and use our God given right to vote and have a say in the freedoms that we enjoy.  Yes, I said "God Given Rights".  I know He guided the founding fathers as they drew up the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, to stand up to those who would not have given us the rights needed for the gospel to be brought back on the earth.  We need to do all that we can to make this a safer place for our posterity to grow up and live in.

I am also feeling so badly for the family of the suspected shooter.  I can not imagine how I would face life if my child had caused so much pain and anguish.  He is obviously not in his right mind, but the pain they must be going through must also be beyond anything imaginable.

We were still on the CA trip when the shooting happened. Within moments of the shooting we got calls from parents letting their students know what had happened. A mother of one of my students last year was shot, and the Judge who was shot is a very well known Salpointe Alumn...so it just seemed way too close to home for us. It changed the whole dynamic of the ending of our trip. And being with the students I work with, the first thing they asked is if we could say a prayer as a group. How grateful I was to be among those who took to their knees upon hearing the news and prayed for those who needed the comfort most at that time.

You said this so well. I happened to call Patti right after it happened and she informed me. I used to eat lunch a couple of times a week in that plaza. My heart goes out to all effected by this.
